A Quick Introduction

Hi, everyone! I'm just dropping a quick note on this brilliant system to introduce myself, since I have a moment to myself and I've found a computer to play around on. My name is Xi'an Coy Manh, and I'm your new librarian, starting as of now. I've been browsing these journals a bit, and I see you've all had a very eventful summer -- Cecilia was kind enough to explain some things to me (I think she was actually trying to shock me, but I'm pretty hard to shock ;).
Please call me Shan; being called Miss anything gives me hives. I understand things here have been a bit hectic lately, so I am sorry for arriving unexpectedly, but I wanted to see the state of the library before your classes started, and become aquainted with this lovely house so I don't get too lost when things get busy. I'm looking forward to meeting all of you; I'll probably be wandering around blissfully for the next few days, so feel free to say hi if you want to. (I'll also be taking book requests once I've figured out what we already have.)
You'll probably be seeing me around, and there are two other faces you'll likely turn up -- Leong and Nga are twins, nine, and looking for something to do after spending a few days in the van with me. (If they break anything, let me know.) They're good kids, although slightly rambunctious, and very friendly.
(Angelo, thank you so much for your help this afternoon. I don't know how I managed to accumulate that much stuff over the years, but you were much appreciated -- as was the rundown on the mansion. If I can make it up to you, let me know.)

Re: ....

Foot-long blade maybe two inches wide, top-quality weaponsteel, a point that means business and two edges you could shave with except, as previously noted, they don't. Kinda like what a Bowie knife has nightmares about, really. And it's tough to mix the two up, side by side.
And unless I've developed kleptomania in the middle of the afternoon when I'm about a mile away from my room, then no, I pretty much think it's getting lonely. At least it ends up in my sleeve, instead of full-size, which could get embarrassing. :)

If the edge was sharp enough to shave with, why didn't you trim your beard?
Re: .....
Date: 2004-08-27 11:56 am (UTC)Well, two reasons. One was, like I said earlier, the dwarves take a really dim view of shaving. As for the other one, maybe you need to go back and reread my description? They were a foot long! And I'd say I didn't know where they'd been except that I do, and even though she was really good about cleaning them afterward I would have felt weird about asking if I could borrow her troll-disembowelling knives so I could scrape my face with them.
