1. I know you're all in the heat of exams, but please remember there are places books do not belong:

a) On the floor;
b) Shelved in the wrong section;
c) Did I mention on the floor?;
d) Near the pool;
e) In the pool;
f) And anywhere else a book might find itself in undue danger, and/or require a rescue team I'm obliged to pay in sugar.

2. Someone's had those books of questionable seventeenth-century poetry out for a pretty darn long time. I'm just sayin'.

3. If you're looking for something, there is no need to glare aimlessly at the card catalogue, especially if you have powers that might disrupt the order of the card catalogue in so doing. You can simply ask me.

On another note... I seem to have left all of my Christmas shopping to, well, this weekend. I shall clearly have a lovely time hunting for whatever it is the twins have put on their Christmas lists this year. Thank God they're past the Elmo phase... although they seem convinced that if they ask hard enough, I'll be moved to forge them a driver's license or two.

Are they still on the Batmobile kick?

[identity profile] x-karma.livejournal.com 2004-12-13 09:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Not quite, although they still think they need a sidecar that can accomodate Mr Summers and/or you - I'm not sure what to make of that.

[identity profile] x-skin.livejournal.com 2004-12-14 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
Might be best not to ask. ;)

[identity profile] x-crowdofone.livejournal.com 2004-12-13 03:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Right! Yes. Sorry about that. Extra credit project. Will return them really soon.

[identity profile] x-kitten.livejournal.com 2004-12-13 05:40 pm (UTC)(link)
-eyes you-

What class is giving you extra credit for questionable seventeenth-century poetry?

[identity profile] x-crowdofone.livejournal.com 2004-12-13 05:45 pm (UTC)(link)
The only reason it's questionable is that seventeenth-century poets were a really, really strange bunch of people.

[identity profile] x-crowdofone.livejournal.com 2004-12-13 06:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Really. One of the books is a Norton Anthology, and I'm pretty sure Shan didn't have a straight face when she was describing it as questionable. :)

[identity profile] x-kitten.livejournal.com 2004-12-13 08:24 pm (UTC)(link)

See, this is just one of the many reasons I avoid the humanities - analyzing poetry, questionable or otherwise, is HARD.

[identity profile] x-crowdofone.livejournal.com 2004-12-13 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Quantum physics is hard. Poetry is just feelings, is all. :)

[identity profile] x-kitten.livejournal.com 2004-12-13 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh. Says you. It's also rhyme and meter and other scary things. But hey, you're good at it, so that's ok.

[identity profile] x-karma.livejournal.com 2004-12-13 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)
*grins* Questionable in terms of reading material for seventeen-year-olds, not in terms of material period. (Well, some of that stuff, yes.)

And having a straight face over the internet is such a silly thing to do, anyway. ;)

[identity profile] x-blink.livejournal.com 2004-12-13 05:40 pm (UTC)(link)
who left books IN THE POOL?!

and it wasn't me, that would imply I read ;)

[identity profile] x-madelyn.livejournal.com 2004-12-13 06:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, you read, PixieGirl - I've seen you and your anatomy book in a compromising position. ;)

[identity profile] x-blink.livejournal.com 2004-12-13 06:58 pm (UTC)(link)
shhh, you're going to ruin my image as flighty and silly!

and y'know, my english textbook is very jealous of my affair with the anatomy book.

[identity profile] x-madelyn.livejournal.com 2004-12-13 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Anatomy is a jealous mistress, this is true... However, don't let Lorna catch me advocating Anatomy over English - balance is good. Yes, very much so.

[identity profile] x-polarisstar.livejournal.com 2004-12-13 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm more concerned about the fact that you advocate work over proper nutrition when it comes to yourself.

Also? I teach Philosophy. ;P

[identity profile] x-madelyn.livejournal.com 2004-12-13 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Didn't I hear you threatening someone with Shakespeare once? Hmm, must be getting delusional in my old age.

And hey, I've been eating lately! Healthy stuff, even! And actually *gasps* leaving the mansion for recreational things!

[identity profile] x-polarisstar.livejournal.com 2004-12-13 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Not that I recall. Doesn't mean I didn't though.

A one to one ratio of sugar to healthy food still doesn't cut it.

[identity profile] x-madelyn.livejournal.com 2004-12-13 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
*pouts* Not even if I claim it's the way to a less insane doctor?

[identity profile] x-polarisstar.livejournal.com 2004-12-13 09:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Keep cutting the sugar, babe. Otherwise how will appreciate the true rarity of my holiday desserts when I start making them?

[identity profile] x-madelyn.livejournal.com 2004-12-13 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll hold you responsible for any crankiness that may ensue. *pouts some more*

Oh, did you want me to try and get Mom's recipe for the evil truth-telling cookies of yummy doom? I'm out, and Scott keeps asking if I can get more. Mind you, that could be the sunlamps talking...

[identity profile] x-polarisstar.livejournal.com 2004-12-14 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
Go right ahead, you'll repent when you taste my divinity.

Oooh, new recipes. Yes, yes, gives them to us. Yes.

[identity profile] x-madelyn.livejournal.com 2004-12-14 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
Entirely possible. But I'll still be cranky. ;)

I may have to pry it from Mom's dead cold hands, but hey, anything for you. ;) But seriously, yes, I'll see if I can get it off her

[identity profile] x-polarisstar.livejournal.com 2004-12-14 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
Betcha won't.

I'll trade her something. How does she feel about caramel apple cheesecake?

[identity profile] x-madelyn.livejournal.com 2004-12-14 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
Betcha will. ;P

Ooh, I can tell you now she'll love that. And my Dad will love you. *grins*

[identity profile] x-polarisstar.livejournal.com 2004-12-14 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
Betcha won't.

Well, you know, I'm really in it for the Dad love. ;) If your mom would like to swap anything else, let me know. Jamie's mother and I did and she had some awesome recipes.

[identity profile] x-madelyn.livejournal.com 2004-12-14 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
Betcha will. Besides, the donuts will miss me.

Dad love is indeed a very good thing. *grins* I'll see how the cheescake goes down - I think I may be able to convince her it's worth more than just the cookies. There might be the pumpkin pie as well.

[identity profile] x-blink.livejournal.com 2004-12-14 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
yes it does!

[identity profile] x-blink.livejournal.com 2004-12-14 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
Anatomy is more than jealous, she's downright domatrix-y

[identity profile] x-madelyn.livejournal.com 2004-12-14 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
That would explain the obsession with stethoscopes? ;)

[identity profile] x-blink.livejournal.com 2004-12-14 12:53 pm (UTC)(link)
not at all. I'd tell you, but I'd have to kill you.

needless to say, I have found NEW uses for them :)

[identity profile] x-karma.livejournal.com 2004-12-13 09:06 pm (UTC)(link)
If I knew, you'd lose a classmate or two to indentured library service. ;)

Can you get your hands on...

[identity profile] x-jetstream.livejournal.com 2004-12-13 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
a copy of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion? I know some people who would really, really like to read it.

Seriously, though. The Spanish kid tends to haunt the Library lately, and I think the knowledge of where books go fell into one of the gaps in the kid's brain. So go easy on him, OK?

I'm assuming from the snickering that you're joking...

[identity profile] x-kitten.livejournal.com 2004-12-13 08:30 pm (UTC)(link)
but it really isn't funny.

Re: I'm assuming from the snickering that you're joking...

[identity profile] x-crowdofone.livejournal.com 2004-12-13 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Um. I definitely don't get it, and I think I'm missing the history boat here or something. Are you okay, love?

Re: I'm assuming from the snickering that you're joking...

[identity profile] x-kitten.livejournal.com 2004-12-13 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
The history boat (http://skepdic.com/protocols.html).

And yeah, I'm ok.

Re: I'm assuming from the snickering that you're joking...

[identity profile] x-crowdofone.livejournal.com 2004-12-14 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
Um, yeah, that doesn't seem like much of a joke.

Re: I'm assuming from the snickering that you're joking...

[identity profile] x-kitten.livejournal.com 2004-12-14 05:23 am (UTC)(link)
Not so much. But this is me, waiting. Not assuming things. Yeah.

Sure it is!

[identity profile] x-jetstream.livejournal.com 2004-12-14 05:39 am (UTC)(link)
See, here's the deal.

The people I was referring to are _so_ bigoted that they still feel fire is a Jewish conspiracy. I was going to bundle a copy of the Protocols with a copy of Rushdie's The Satanic Verses in the hope that it will make their heads explode and save me the trouble of sneaking back into the country to make their heads explode myself.

If you want to talk about it more, come find me during office hours.
